Iznajar Lake...

Iznajar Lakeside Beach

Iznajar village was transformed some years ago by the creation of a man-made reservoir across the River Genil valley it now has a shoreline overlooking a lake some thirty-two kilometres long, and containing an estimated 900 million cubic metres of water.

The reservoir provides an excellent place for fishing, birdwatching and watersports. There is a sandy 'beach' named Playa de Valdearenas  just outside the town backed by two fabulous Restaurants and bars, where you can hire boats.   This is the perfect location to sit on the shady terraces of the lakeside Restaurant and Bar, overlooking the lake and its sandy beach, watching a magnificent sunset.

Swimmers and sunbathers flock to the large sandy beach in the warm summer months while anglers love the excellent fishing that the lake provides. A number of bird species can be seen throughout the area.

Valdearenas Beach is the main beach located on Lake Iznájar. For our guests looking for nautical activities, canoes, kayaks etc can be hired from the beach bar on the lake.

If you feel like a change to your own private pool and getting out and about with the locals, there is a huge outside Municipal Pool near the beach with it's own restaurant/cafe.  There is also crazy golf and tennis courts down at the beach location.  If you're really into fitness there is a running track too!
